Mummified seals

Two science crew on the ship presented over Zoom tonight in our nightly "get to know each other" meeting. I didn't know they have full-time jobs when they're not on the ship! One of them dives for his other job and I'm showing you one of his pictures tonight. It's not what we'll be doing, but it's the coolest thing I saw today!

The photo is from Alex Brett and he has much more on Instagram and YouTube: https://www.instagram.com/alex.brett.underwater/

including a really excellent video about science in Antarctica, featuring our ship and some of the scientists onboard with us! https://youtu.be/eAOn0Cvo9PQ

- Pic: A crabeater seal! They can't make their own holes in the ice, so sometimes they get stranded inland as the water and ice retreat and then they get *mummified* in the cold, dry air!
